Each team has a dedicated player development staff member who supports the player’s growth on and off the court. They provide resources, mentorship, and guidance in areas like career planning, wellness, and life skills while helping players navigate opportunities throughout their NBA journey.
Serve as a key resource for families, helping them adjust to life in a new market and connecting them with trusted services and community support. This role may be handled by the same person as your Player Development staff member, or some teams may have a separate role dedicated specifically to supporting families.
Help keep players and their families safe by providing guidance on personal security, travel, and day-to-day safety considerations. They are a trusted resource for maintaining privacy and peace of mind at home and on the road.

In partnership with the NBPA, NBA Player Engagement hosts the Rookie Transition Program, a two-part event that prepares them for the league. This includes topics on: benefits, financial literacy, mental health, creativity, identity, and league rules and policies.
The NBA hosts programs for players to learn more about the league, business, and other endeavors to support them on- and off- the court.
An opportunity for players to learn more about the business they are in - visit the NBA offices and speak with staff about how the league operates and drives revenue.
